I have already booked my venue and they have an on-site co-ordinator, do I need a wedding planner as well?
The venue co-ordinator’s main focus is managing the activities and issues specifically related to the facility and not providing in-depth information on, for example, suppliers, colour schemes, decoration ideas. The venue co-ordinator may be able to suggest certain suppliers for you to use but they will not have done a comprehensive review of the market place and some venues take a commission for recommending suppliers meaning suppliers are not being recommended to you because they are the best. It is common that the venue co-ordinator who you deal with prior to your wedding is not the co-ordinator on hand on the day itself. It is also possible that on the day of your wedding the venues co-ordinator may have to attend with issues elsewhere. If you would like personal attention from someone who will be exclusive to you and your wedding day needs then yes you will need two!
Why should I use a wedding planner?
Organising a wedding is no easy task. From finding a venue, negotiating with caterers, hiring a professional photographer, a florist, a dress maker…there are hundreds of little details involved in a successful wedding. A wedding planner can take the headache out of this process and make it fun again. A good wedding planner will also have a strong network of reliable suppliers, they will be able to negotiate better rates and their experience means they will have contingency plans in place just in case the worst happens.
I’m worried I might lose control or the day won’t be as I wanted.
Harrelle listen to your ideas and supply you with detailed information and choices to fit in with your style and personality and we speak to you regularly so you are always aware of the progress we are making. Shouldn’t I be able to arrange my own wedding?
Hiring a wedding planner does not say that you are unable to plan a wedding, it shows that you are aware that wedding planners are professionally trained and specialists in project-management, negotiating, time management, communication and organisation. A wedding planner may have a wealth of novel ideas you weren’t even aware of, they know tricks of the trade and can do all the boring research whilst you concentrate on the fun bits!
Aren’t wedding planners an American thing?
The concept of a wedding planner has been around in America for a long time, about 90% of brides there use a wedding planner. However, the amount of couples hiring a wedding planner in the UK is increasing year by year as more and more see the benefit and there are more services on offer – at the moment around 26% of couples see the massive benefits of hiring a planner.
We are working to a tight budget, why should we spend more money on a planner?
The answer is simply for peace of mind.
• A Wedding planner has an extensive ‘black book’ of suppliers/venues and through these contacts they can usually negotatite you a great deal or excellent ‘freebie’.
• They know all about the legalities that are associated with getting married so you wont have to worry about forgetting anything.
• A wedding planner should be able to help you stick to your budget and knowing about all the costs along the way means you won’t over look an unavoidable costly expense at a late stage in the planning process.
In some cases through good deals, freebies and ideas a planner may be able to save you a substanial amount of money – this has even been known to amount to a larger figure than the wedding planner’s total fee.
